The different varieties of tiles

There are many things to consider when trying to decide what the best type of tile will be for the area you want tiled. weather its inside or outside or even submerged in water there are pro's and con's to every tile. Here you can find out everything you need to know when choosing the correct tile for your house.


Ceramic tiles

Ceramic tiles are made with sand, clay and natural products cut to size than moulded and fired in a kiln. Ceramic tiles can be glazed or unglazed, they can be rough or smooth and have a great resistance to color fading and foot traffic.


Porcelain tiles

Porcelain tiles are made from fine clay and natural products that are compressed than fired at a high temperature, Porcelain tiles are very dense and strong, they are non-porous so they don't absorb water and can come in different variants such as glazed, unglazed, digitally printed and full bodied.


Stone tiles

Stone tiles are man made cut from giant stone slabs in quarries than brought to a warehouse to be cut into different shapes of tiles this is why stone tiles are very costly as all the work that goes into making them. There are lots of types of stone such as travertine, marble, granite, limestone, sandstone, onyx, quartzite and slate.

Just some of the different finishes are polished, honed, tumbled , chipped and brushed.


Mosaic tiles

Mosaic tiles can be made using different material such as stone, porcelain and glass

they are very small tiles and are held together by a netting on the back which allow them to be made into different shapes and sizes they can come square, hexagonal and round.
